Bars, Cafes & Drinks Brands

Drink Photography for Bars, Cafes and Beverage Brands

Drinks are the hardest thing on a menu to photograph well. Glass reflects the whole room, ice starts melting before the garnish goes on, and foam has a working life measured in minutes. We shoot cocktails, coffee, juices and packaged drinks across Dubai with a setup built around all three problems.

Drinks are one specialism within our food and beverage photography in Dubai.

Why Drink Photography Needs a Different Setup

A plate of food holds still. A drink starts changing the second it is poured: bubbles rise and fade, ice shifts and clouds, condensation runs, foam sinks and the mint begins to wilt. The camera records every one of those changes.

So we light, style and schedule a beverage shoot differently from a food shoot. These are the six things we plan for before anyone pours.

Glass and reflections

Every glass is a curved mirror. We decide what it reflects with black and white cards, flags and careful placement, so windows, ceiling lights and crew stay out of the drink. Each glass is polished with gloves and checked for fingerprints before it enters frame.

Backlight through the liquid

Colour and clarity come from light travelling through a drink, not bouncing off it. A light behind or beside the glass makes a hibiscus cooler glow and gives a cold brew a warm amber edge instead of a flat black block.

Condensation that reads as cold

A misted glass tells the viewer a drink is cold before they read a word. Real condensation soon turns into drips that pool on the table, so for long setups we chill the glass and build an even mist that holds its beads.

Ice in Dubai heat

Ice is the clock on every cold drink. We shoot cold heroes indoors or early on a terrace, keep backup ice in a cool box beside the set, and use clear acrylic cubes only in background glasses, never in the hero.

Foam and crema timing

Crema starts to thin and pale almost as soon as the shot is pulled, and milk foam loosens soon after the pour. Coffee is made to order with the barista beside the set and photographed within seconds.

Pours and movement

A pour, a splash or a garnish drop proves the drink is fresh. We freeze the stream with flash or a fast shutter and roll short video in the same take, so one pour serves the menu and the social feed.

From the first espresso of the morning to the last round at the bar.

Cocktail and Mocktail Photography for Bars and Hotel Outlets

Signature cocktails, zero-proof serves and mocktail menus for bars, lounges, beach venues and hotel outlets. We usually work on the bar itself so the backbar, the neon or the view sits softly behind the glass, and your bartender builds each drink fresh, garnish last.

For licensed venues we shoot each hero a second time with the drink swapped or out of frame, because what the bar serves and what every channel will publish are not always the same list. Our notes on cocktail and mocktail photography and our hotel and fine dining photography page go further.

Coffee, Matcha and Iced Drink Photography for Cafes

Espresso, flat whites, Spanish lattes, V60 and cold brew, iced matcha and the seasonal signature that changes every few months. Latte art is shot top down while the pattern is still sharp, layered iced drinks from just above eye level so the layers stay readable, and pastries sit alongside so the menu sells pairings.

Our coffee photography guide for Dubai cafes covers light, angles and timing in detail, and cafe photography in Dubai covers the food, the counter and the room.

Juice, Smoothie and Acai Photography

Cold-pressed juices, smoothies, lemonades and acai bowls sell on colour, and colour is the first thing a careless white balance ruins. We grade to the real drink so a mango smoothie looks like fresh mango, shoot thick blends before they separate, and photograph bowls before the granola softens.

Beverage Product Photography: Cans, Bottles and Cartons

For drinks brands we shoot the pack as well as the pour: aluminium cans, glass bottles, cartons, plant-based milks and beer, on clean white for retail and in styled scenes for campaigns. Labels are lit to read without glare, and every cap, seam and fill line is checked before a frame is signed off.

The flavoured milk range pictured comes from our work with Plantoholic, a plant-based cafe on Palm Jumeirah where we also designed the packaging. For studio pack shots see product photography in Dubai, and for Amazon.ae and noon image rules see marketplace listing photography.

Menu and website heroes

One clean hero per drink for the printed menu, menu boards and website, graded so the whole list looks like it came from one bar.

Square crops for delivery apps

Drinks framed with room around the glass and garnish, so a 1:1 thumbnail never clips the straw. Our delivery app menu photography page explains the platform rules.

Social stills

Vertical frames for stories and Reels covers, plus close details of foam, ice and garnish for the grid.

Two pints of Guinness with settled creamy heads on beer mats at a pub bar

Beverage Case Studies: Irish Vickers and Alpro UAE

Guinness at Irish Vickers. For Irish Vickers, a Guinness-serving Irish pub in Dubai, we styled and delivered 15 food and drink visuals in a single day, from pints settling on the bar to pours at the taps. Guinness was not the client, but the brand later requested select images for its own use, and the project was featured in Time Out Dubai. Read the Irish Vickers case study.

Alpro UAE. In 2024 Alpro UAE booked a one-day lifestyle and product shoot. Despite late recipe sign-off and Ramadan drinks added on the fly, we styled and photographed nine plant-based drinks plus specials in under a week and earned a 5-star production review. In 2025 we ran the summer campaign that took Alpro Barista into Dubai cafes, with matcha-led key visuals, lifestyle shoots and short-form video. See the Alpro UAE case study.

How a Drinks Shoot Runs

1

Drinks list and brief

Every drink is mapped to its glass, garnish and channel, and we agree which are heroes. Our photography brief template covers the rest.

2

Bar, cafe or studio

Location keeps your backbar, counter and daylight. A studio setup gives full control for packs, splashes and white backgrounds. Many shoots use both.

3

Glassware and garnish prep

Glasses are polished and chilled, ice is bagged with a backup, and garnishes are cut fresh in small batches so nothing sits waiting.

4

Batch sequencing

Drinks are grouped by glass and lighting setup. Hot coffee goes straight from the machine to camera, and iced and sparkling drinks are built last so ice and bubbles peak on the shot.

Glassware to have ready: two clean examples of every glass on the list, so a scratched or chipped one never ends up as the hero; takeaway cups, lids and sleeves if you sell to go; straws, picks and coasters exactly as served; and a spare of anything branded.

Why Bars, Cafes and Drinks Brands Work With Us

We work exclusively with food and beverage brands, and our drinks work runs from pub pints to plant-based milk launches and cafe matcha menus. Beverage Photography FAQs

Tap a question to expand the answer.

Do you shoot drinks at our bar or in a studio?

Both, and the drinks list decides. Cocktails, coffee and anything that sells the atmosphere are usually best shot on location at your bar or counter, with your own glassware and the backbar softly behind. Packaging, splashes and white-background pack shots need a controlled studio setup. Many projects split the day: venue frames first, then a compact studio corner for products and detail.

Can a full coffee menu be photographed in one session?

Usually, yes, if the menu is planned in batches. As a guide, plan roughly fifteen to twenty minutes per hero drink once lighting is set, allowing time to rebuild each drink fresh. Simpler menu shots that share a cup and setup move faster. We group hot drinks, iced drinks and signatures so the lighting changes as few times as possible, and a long seasonal list with pastry pairings may need a second session.

How do you keep iced drinks looking fresh during a shoot in Dubai?

We treat ice as the clock. Glasses are chilled, each hero is built only when the light and frame are locked, and we shoot in the first minutes before the cubes cloud and shrink. Backup ice and fresh garnish sit in a cool box beside the set, condensation is built with a mist that holds, and outdoor frames are booked for early morning rather than midday.

Do you photograph beverage packaging for retail and marketplace listings?

Yes. We shoot cans, bottles, cartons and multipacks on pure white for retail and e-commerce, and as styled scenes with the drink poured for campaigns and social media. Labels are lit to stay legible without glare, and main images can be shot to Amazon.ae and noon requirements. Our marketplace listing photography page sets out those rules in detail.

Can drink photos be used on Talabat and Deliveroo?

Yes, as long as they are framed for the app. Delivery platforms show images in square or landscape crops, so we compose drinks with space around the glass and garnish and deliver a square version alongside the menu hero. Each platform sets and updates its own image rules, so check the current specs in your partner portal. Our delivery app menu photography service explains how we shoot for each one.

Do you also film pours and latte art?

Yes. Pours, latte art, shaken cocktails, garnish drops and fizz are filmed in the same session as the stills, usually vertical for Reels and TikTok and often in slow motion. Planning both together saves building every drink twice and keeps light and styling consistent across video and photos. See our food video production service for formats.

What should we prepare before a drinks shoot?

Send the final drinks list with recipes and the glass for each, and tell us which drinks are heroes. On the day, have two clean examples of every glass, plenty of fresh ice, garnish and fruit for every recipe, and a bartender or barista free for the whole session. Clear the bar or counter of clutter and polish glassware before we arrive.
